It feels like my whole cohort of transitioners happened *during* the lockdown rather than before it, so your perspective feels, in some ways, 180 degrees from my own. I could hide indoors behind a mask, in that liminal time in a transition when you are still very boy shaped and yet want to be understood as a woman by others. In some sense, it was the expression of a common fantasy I read about in "trans egg fic" where the main character disappears for a year and emerges a different person.

Anyway, I am desperate to see this film. I hope that I can possibly catch it on a stream during a film festival later this year.

"Like Moore, I decided to transition immediately before COVID, and then the lockdown shoved me back inside — into many of the exact constraints I thought I had just walked out of. That timing carries a specific cruelty that is hard to explain to people who didn’t live it: you finally start, and the world makes you start over, alone, on a loop."

I'm reading your words about my story, and the story of so many others who started transition before the nightmare of COVID unfolded. I have been struggling to explain how deeply the isolation of lockdown cut so deep into my soul.

The entire review seems to me to be a master class in writing movie reviews. That description... I now have the words to explain a thing that happened and that cannot really be explained if not experienced.
