To a first approximation, to qualify as a human female one must have some ovaries. Which absolutely no transwoman will EVER acquire, ergo never a female. Suck it up buttercups.
In addition to McBride’s example of the XY mother, there’s also the “Huevodoches” (sometimes spelled guevedoces) — a colloquial name used in parts of the Dominican Republic, particularly rural villages like Las Salinas. It refers to people who:
• Are assigned female at birth based on external genitalia
• Undergo virilization at puberty, developing typically male secondary sex characteristics
• Are genetically 46,XY (chromosomally male)
The most common cause is 5-alpha reductase deficiency, a rare autosomal recessive condition. But common enough the it’s not regarded as a disaster for the family. The child does a social transition and life moves on.
But, if they were born in the US, under the present Administration, they would be irrevocably be labeled as female.

Pregnancy really isn't the defining trait for "female", particularly since it's the male seahorse that takes on that role. And similarly, vaginas are likewise not definitive of females:
But THE defining and essential trait for "females" -- in literally millions of species, including the human one -- is the production of large reproductive cells -- "oogenesis" in a word. Something endorsed and underlined by President Trump's EO on Restoring Biological Truth to Government:
All that Mr. McBride is saying is, in effect, "why can't we all just get along". But he is simply ignoring, or trying to sweep under the carpet, his demand, and that of the transactivist cohort he is speaking for, that he and his tribe can or have changed sex, and a demand to be treated as if they had done so.
But changing sex -- at least in humans -- is a medical and biological impossibility. To do so requires that an organism change from producing large reproductive cells (female) to producing small reproductive cells (male), or vice versa. Do let us all know when Mr. McBride grows a pair of ovaries of his own, or concedes that he and other transwomen are most certainly not females, and stop insisting that they should be treated as if they were.
When people say “it's Biology 101,” I answer, “yeah, good thing a lot of us went on to take Biology 201 and more.”
