It’s a quiet reflection on what happens when we stop trying to be clever and start allowing ourselves to be soft. I wrote it as a gentle invitation to notice how clothing, silence, and simplicity can help us shift into a new way of being—one that doesn’t need to win or explain or prove. You can return to this one when your mind feels cluttered or you’re trying too hard to make sense of things. Let it slow you. Let it clear you. Let it soften you.
There are versions of me I used to rely on. The quick one, the clever one, the one who always had a retort ready before the question had even landed. That self was good at staying safe. She could spot a trap from a mile away. She could thread a sentence through a crowd like a needle through silk.
I’ve been trying to let her go quiet.
Not to disappear. Just to rest a bit
What’s emerging in her place is someone slower. Someone who takes her time with answers, and sometimes doesn’t feel the need to answer at all. A version of me who smiles more easily. Who lets her thoughts arrive in their own time. Who no longer feels like she has to carry the entire room on her back just to be taken seriously.
