A 19-year-old transgender UW student was killed in off-campus student housing Sunday night. She was the seventh trans woman attacked in Seattle in twenty months, and the first not to survive.

I have an idea on what can be done to help combat this, based on an effective strategy used by the Freedom Riders of the 1960’s and those who sheltered them. I’ll be expanding on it in a future post.
Seattle had roughly 100 murders the last 20 months 95% of which are male.
There were 10,000+ violent assaults in the last 24 months,
For males mimicking women, the chance of violent assaults is ~0.15%.
For other males the chance of violent assault is 1.3 to 1.8%.
Consistent with data from decades, men mimicking women suffer assault at a fraction of the rate of other men. In Seattle they have 10 times lower rate of assault.

Every murder and assault of trans people should be considered a hate crime. It is so statistically unlikely that it was anything else.
